April 11th, 2025,
Dear Black Bear Families,
Thank you for the clothing donations and many people have been shopping, but we have some great items left. Please come in the gym on Monday morning to 3:30 to choose some new to you items!
Thursday afternoon was a celebration of learning. We hope everyone was able to share in the joy of learning and that sense of accomplishment that comes with it.
Reminders
- We have our Community Fun Runs on Thursday, April 17th and 24th for all students in Grades 2 to 5 at 3:30. We host them here for all the Elementary Schools in Sooke. All students can join in!
- Lice Happens: Routine hair checks for nits and lice are recommended for all school age students; we do not do checks at school; they need to happen at home. Letters do go home to affected classes, but if all families regularly check for these pesky critters, it helps reduce the spread in general. Here is a link to information from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) and the Canadian Paediatric Society:
- Our Next and Final Regular Pokemon Tournament will take place on Friday, May 9th in our gym from 12:30 to 2:30. Please come and enjoy this exciting event if your child is participating. If you do not have a child in the tournament but have always wondered about a Pokemon tournament, please come take a peek!
- Journey Middle School is hosting a parent evening on Tuesday, April 22nd from 6-7pm for all Grade 5 families.
- Please see the information about a Family Photo Afternoon if you wish to participate with your family on Friday, May 9th
- Bus Registration is March 1st to April 30th. Bus assignments and routes will be developed based on registrations received during this period, so families are encouraged to register as soon as possible. Transportation | Sooke School District
- Save the Date: Bannock and Books at EMCS for ages 0-12 on April 13. Everyone is welcome. A story will be shared, and all students will be given some books to bring home. It is a wonderful community event. Please see the attached flyer and register!
