Dear Guardians and Parents,

We appreciated our Bus Drivers this Friday for Bus Driver Appreciation Day. One of our drivers, Gord Philips, is also a talented musician and he is shortlisted in the CBC searchlight competition again this year. Last time, he made it to the top 10 in Canada. Let’s show our appreciation and vote him to the top! https://www.cbc.ca/music/searchlight/#/vote

We will be honouring the Legacy of a fine Canadian role model, Terry Fox, on May 27th by holding a run and raising money through TOONIES for TERRY

The Parents Advisory Council (PAC) has a few notes for our families (who are all members of PAC):

  1. PAC is  calling out for PAC Executive Member roles for next year (see attached flyer). We need submissions by May 30th. What a great way to connect with your school community.
  2. We’re very excited to present to Poirier Families, a school community event on June 17th from 5-8pm; Poirier Bears Family Picnic & Fun Fair!

Featuring picnic dinner options by Sooke Harbourside Lions BBQ and Big Foot Food Co. Food Truck and FREE games like a “Duck Drop” hosted by our very own Sooke Fire Department, a Donut Walk by Bits of Bliss, Poirier Plinko, Sack races, family tug of war, Gone Fishin’, Ring Toss, Golf Putt and many many more!

Our community has really come together to provide us with many awesome prizes to give away; the PAC and our parent volunteers are also working really hard to bring this event to our kids and families at NO COST to participate. Our goal is inclusivity, participation and to just HAVE FUN!

But, in order to pull this off, we NEED family volunteers (this could be older siblings) to help us run the games! We’re still short about 35 volunteers to make the evening a success. Please click here https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0e49afae2ba5f4cf8-poirier to sign up, or share this with a family member who might be interested in helping out.
