Dear Poirier Parents,

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for Shared Learning today. It is always nice to have our school full with our community. Next Monday we have our performance from Hip Hop artist, D.O. Gibson. On Thursday we will all be jumping for heart health! We are collecting donations for the Heart and Stroke Foundation at this link: https://jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca/44535 We will need to have the traffic circle cleared on Thursday morning for our jumpers. Thank you.

Our PAC is hosting an Earth Day dance on Friday in the gym from 6-8.

For Kindergartens starting in September please join us for the Read and Ride at 1:30 on Thursday, April 25th if you can. Please use the QR code on the attached poster to sign up. There is also a play in our playground on Saturday, May 11th at 10:30 for all Kindergarten students in Sooke. Please see the attached information.

Safety: Please do not enter from the exit only road leading into the subdivision. Especially at the end of the school day, this is particularly dangerous for our students walking as they are not expecting cars to be coming from this direction. Thank you for keeping our kids safe.
We have minor bees in our sand play area. They do not sting, but are important pollinators so we are hoping we can all work together to play in this area and allow the bees to do their pollinating job.
We have a bin for 1000 X 5 (every child hears 1000 books by 5 years of age) outside our office. If you have children books to donate they can be dropped off here.

👩‍👧‍👦 Parents/Guardians are required to accompany their children for this exciting event.

Dear Poirier Families,

This week we were treated to two great shows. We watched a spectacular demonstration of jump rope skills presented by our very own Poirier Jump Rope Club as well as Victoria’s Velocity Jump Rope Team. Sooke’s Revolution Dance Collective dancers gave us an energetic and amazing show on Tuesday (many of the dancers were Black Bears past and present). Thank you very much. Today we learned about Elders and this weekend our Black Bears are going to try to thank an Elder in their family for sharing their love.

Congratulations to all the cross country runners who completed another successful run on April 11th. Way to go runners! Thanks for cheering them on and being an wonderful family community!
We have early dismissal on Thursday, April 18th. Home time is at 11:40 and buses will run at this time. All of our teachers will be reaching out to let families know about touching base for informal and shared learning times.
Congratulations to the members of Readasaurus Rex Chapter Two, Addie, Alexis, Linnaea, Olivia, Zen, and Zenna, for winning round 2 of the Reading Link Challenge! Readasaurus Rex will now be moving on to the finals to compete against teams from across Vancouver Island. Good luck Readasaurus Rex!
