Dear Black Bear Families,

We had a morning of appreciation for the Lions as they fed everyone delicious pancakes that were enjoyed in the sunshine. It was a lovely Friday at Poirier! Don’t forget there is no school on Monday for Victoria Day. Tuesday we have our new Kindergarten visits for those able to join us. Mme Fawcett’s class is heading to Wittys Lagoon for the day. We will also have a Zumba Dance Party on the Blacktop for everyone at 1:00 to get us all moving! On Wednesday a few classes will be wheeling around or traffic circle in the afternoon. It will be closed until 2:35 to make room for them. Mme Kristiansen’s class is touring our Sooke Fire Truck. Thursday, M Duguay’s and Mme Beattie’s classes are visiting the Sooke Museum. Elder Shirley will be here to sing and drum with Ms. Miller’s and Ms. Zinkowski’s classes.

  • Congratulations to the members of Readasaurus Rex, Amelia, Ceci, Clementine, Kai, Linnaea, and Violet, for winning 2nd place in the Reading Link Challenge finals! It was our first year participating in the challenge and we are so proud of how Readasaurus Rex represented Sooke while competing against teams from across Vancouver Island.
  • Thank you for your support for our Peer Helper Garage Sale. They raised $265.75 for BCSPCPA and $265.75 for Help Ukraine Vancouver Island.
  • We are hosting a Lego Creation Show on Thursday, June 1st. Black Bears can bring their creations to the gym in the morning and classes will tour the creative display! We cannot wait to see what imaginative things are shared.

From our PAC:

Walkathon on May 31st to raise money for outside playground equipment. Please see the attached pledge sheet if you are able to help. All amounts add up!  We will all have fun on this walk! Thanks PAC.

2nd Annual Family Picnic & Fun Fair. Friday June 23rd, 5-8pm
We are busy putting together a SUPER AMAZING fair this year! There will be TONS of cool prizes, MORE food trucks, NEW games and so many awesome surprises! This event is FREE to all our families to enjoy but we absolutely can not pull it off without the support of our amazing school community.

We need many volunteers to help run the game booths in 1 hour shifts; if you can help for any part of the fair, perhaps your partner, older sibling, grandparent, aunt/uncle would like to help – we greatly appreciate it!

Please sign up to volunteer here: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0E49AFAE2BA5F4CF8-2ndannual
