March 01, 2019

Dear Panther Families,

At Ecole Poirier, we encourage everyone to practice kindness every day– kindness to themselves and kindness to others. On February 27th, the students and staff all wore pink to symbolize that we are kind and that we stand up for each other. “Pink Shirt Day” originated in Nova Scotia in 2007, when some teenagers organized a high-school protest by wearing pink in sympathy for a boy who was being bullied for wearing a pink shirt. Now this day is recognized all across Canada and beyond.

Construction has started outside the front of the school on the area that we consider the ‘mud pit’.  Facilities is working hard to improve this area and we ask for your patience with our temporary entrance and exit routines until this area is complete.  Thank you Facilities for helping make our school even more beautiful!

March Food Drive – please help us fill the Sooke Food Bank’s shelves, Poirier will be collecting non-perishable items for the Food Bank for the two weeks from March 4-15th.

Thursday, March 7th is Parent-Teacher Conference Night.  Your classroom teacher will send out information for their specific classroom.  We hope to see you there.
